Gruppo Musicini is a prestigious classical ensemble founded in 1992 by the acclaimed soprano Emiko Teruya. Born in Urasoe City, Okinawa, Teruya established the group to foster deep musical exchanges between Tokyo’s elite music institutions and her home prefecture. The ensemble is composed of distinguished singers from the Tokyo Nikikai and Fujiwara Opera Company, alongside an orchestra primarily featuring professors from the Tokyo College of Music. Their mission is to enrich the Okinawan cultural landscape through world-class performances and educational collaboration.
The “Second Night” of the 2026 tour, titled “Song and Orchestra – A Journey to Germany and France,” presents a grand symphonic experience under the baton of conductor Nobuyuki Mizuno. Featuring soprano soloist Emiko Teruya, the program explores a sophisticated range of European masterpieces, including Beethoven’s heroic Egmont Overture, Richard Strauss’s poignantly lyrical “Four Last Songs,” and Bizet’s vibrant Symphony in C major. This performance showcases the full breadth of the ensemble’s power, bringing together Okinawan-born talent and Japan’s leading classical scholars for a night of orchestral brilliance.+1
