Overview

Gruppo Musicini is a prestigious classical ensemble founded in 1992 by the celebrated soprano Emiko Teruya. Born in Urasoe City, Okinawa, Teruya established the group to foster musical exchange between Okinawa and the major cultural hubs of Tokyo. The ensemble features elite performers active in the Tokyo Nikikai and Fujiwara Opera Company, alongside an orchestra of professors from the Tokyo College of Music. Their mission is to contribute to the artistic development of Okinawa while showcasing high-caliber chamber and orchestral music.

The “First Night” of the 2026 tour focuses on the delicate and refined sounds of the flute and strings. Led by renowned flutist Mitsuharu Saito and a distinguished string section including Shizuka Nakamura and Iwahisa Kuroki, the performance highlights the technical brilliance of these “young musicians” (the literal meaning of musicini). This tour serves as a homecoming for the group’s Okinawan roots, bringing world-class classical interpretations to the heart of Naha.
